During the past five decades, there has been a phenomenal expansion of Management
and Technical education facilities in the country since it is one of the significant
components of Human Resource Development spectrum.
Initiatives are being taken to further strengthen this education system. India’s
professional graduates from the Indian Institutes Specifically are the most widely
recognised, accepted, highly regarded products world wide and the Indian professionals
today are in the frontiers of Management, IT & Scientific, Literary & Economic
fields. This has been possible only because of number of World class institutes
all over the country such as IITs, IISc, IIMs, National Institute of Technology
(NITs), IIITs and many more.
Basically, these institutes impart high quality education, training and provide
consultancy services to various sectors of the Indian economy. Technical Education
System has played a very significant role in the process of economic and technological
development of India by producing high quality manpower needed for various sectors
and by providing essential services through research and innovations. The basic
thrust of the schemes and programmes has been on overall quality improvement. Strong
linkages between technical institutions and industry were developed, particularly
through technology development missions between IITs and IISc, Bangalore, and several
industries.
